Hi there! Welcome to the Charleston blog, a journal about our lives, travels, fashion, and style. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Rose.

Late Summer Wedding at Indian Hill Club

Jul 16, 2019

I’m so excited to share this special wedding from last September with you today!

This was the first “full planning” wedding that SoiréeSmith produced. I was all kinds of excited with Sarah’s mom first contacted me a mere 6-months prior to Sarah & Mike’s wedding. I was eager to dive into the planning process with them (and assured them that typically my shorter-term engagements make faster decisions and are more ahead relative to those with longer engagements).

As North Shore (and Loyola alum) ‘natives’ they selected the meaningful location of Indian Hill Club in Winnetka, for their wedding (the club the bride grew up going to) and their family’s local church: Saints Faith, Hope & Charity for the service.

Sarah is the quintessential SoiréeSmith bride – classic, a little preppy, fun and incredibly sweet. I adored ALL my meetings with her and her mom. Mike, was always sweet and supportive (read: left most of it up to Sarah & her mom – but showed up for all the things that counted). Their wedding day was full of love surrounding the two of them and the weather was one of those rare perfect weather days in a calendar year in Chicago.

Enjoy perusing through some of my favorite images of that day from Artisan Events:

3 Generations helping the bride get ready
I just love this photo – 3 Generations of helping hands getting Sarah dressed.

Sarah knew she wanted classic with a hint of “preppy” details. The bridesmaids carried small hand-tied bouquets with a mix of white garden roses and hydrangea with a touch of the blue hydrangea as well. Paired with the varied styles of navy bridesmaid gowns, this group of girls were elegant. Sarah carried a beauitful bouquet of white roses, with hints of greenery.

Sarah and Mike opted out of a first look, embracing the traditional first look at the ceremony. I just love this photo at the end of the ceremony where you can just tell Mike is enamored with how beautiful Sarah was.

Next, it was onto the reception back at Indian Hill Golf Club – so close by in fact some guests walked from the ceremony!

Indian Hill Golf Club, presents a creative challenge with its layout. As we maxed out the guest count (we filled both porches and the dining room), we strategically held an extended cocktail ‘hour’ and held toasts under the clear-top tent before inviting guests in for dinner.

Four Finches did a beautiful job bringing to life the classic mix of blue and white hydrangea, interwoven with smilax, garden roses in the varying heights of clear and cut glass vessels. It was exactly as Sarah wished – elegant (but not fussy), classic and slightly preppy.

After dinner guests returned to the tent and danced the next few hours away to the sounds of the Chicago Catz.

Bride & Groom out on Green

Congratulations again to Sarah and Mike! Thank you for letting SoiréeSmith play a part in the start of your forever! May your future as husband and wife be as sweet as the two of you.

Thank you to the following vendor team that made this day possible:
